emer. boot disk stops at virus check? was given win xp pro gets as far as needing reg. code, code does not work! have orig. gateway software missing 1st startup disk! anyway to do this without purchasing anything?

You could download the exact same version of windows that your cd-key is for, that way your not braking the law.

You could buy a pireted copy of XP (ensureing it is the same version is the one your CD-key is for) for a few £££, then use your cd-key, that would also be legal.
