I'm not using Outlook 2000. In OE6 of IE6 SP1 fully updated, the
following big link seems to show up fully underlined in InBox & Sent
Items, even with "Tools, Options, Read tab" set at "Read all messages in
plain text". Also, the Send tab for E-Mail is set at Plain Text,
Uuencode.
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.msdos.batch/tree/browse_frm/thread/...ff9993e
I know I do sometimes see some links showing up partially underlined as
Victor says, but none of that seems to be the cause. And I can't recall
where I've seen them or what was the cause. Maybe it's only in other
folks posts here in his NG. Maybe they use something like OEQuoteFix
with a bad setting?

Maybe it was an upgrade to OE, then, that fixed you 'n me, but not
Victor. Or maybe something like OEQuoteFix set badly, not to disparage
that one. But big URLs should work, even if big girls don't cry!

I don't know and don't care. While it *can* be the settings on the sender's
end, it is usually a combination of sender/reader that causes the problem. I
put the onus on the reader to patch the thing back together if it gets
broken, not on the sender to figure out some foolproof method of preventing
it (don't think there *is* such an animal.)
That said, a seasoned veteran poster will use TinyURL or the like to shorten
the URL to an "unbreakable" length if it's called for, preferably
*in_addition* to the full URL so that readers can see for themselves what
the target URL really is.
