Seems like no one is really 'free' No-ip wants $15 a year to reg each
name. Go daddy is $9 I have more than 5 domain names which seems the
limit on dyndns free plan. They have other plans that cost $14 0r $24
PER domain if I read it right.
And those other plans have way more features. Not sure what features are
essential.
If there is a better board for this subject, let me know, thanks, John

Should anyone really be free?
When something says "free" it makes me wary of who is paying for what I
would get for "free".
Usually, though it depends on the service you are requesting for "free", you
get what you pay for. Free usually costs you pop-ups, header and footer ads,
getting your e-mail address on a bulk e-mail list, not to mention if you
have to give your phone number for something free it gets you endless sales
calls, you can't stop about because you agreed one time 5 years ago and the
do not call list does not cover calls you agreed to accept.

If $15 a year gets you the domain name and the dynamic registration of your
IP in that domain, that would be considered very low cost for such a
service, if you think any thing is "free" you should ask how it is being
paid for; because nothing is free.

Dyndns will give you an *entirely* free dynamic DNS account. Yep, FREE.
However, they never claim that registrar services, DNS hosting, backup SMTP
servers, or bartending//cabana maintenance at your pool club, is offered at
the same price. Smile

Use who you choose, for what you choose. I use dyndns for free stuff in some
places, and I pay them for their (good) services in others.
What exactly is it you're looking for? Do some searching, ask people for
reviews, and make the decision based on both cost and service.
