Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>inetexplorer>ie6>ieak (more info?)
I can't figure out how to use the content advisor to block certain web sites
(ie. poker sites) without having to enter all the web sites that are allowed.
Can I just simply block specific sites and leave it at that? Or do I have
to enter in all allowed web sites when I turn content advisor on?

There is a long number listed in my "Manage Add-Ons" and I cannot figure out
what it is and cannot find out any info regarding what it does and why it
would be in my manage add-ons column. The number is listed as follows:

{CD67F990-08E9-11D2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE}

It does not list the publisher or the file in which it resides or any info
about it and I cannot figure out how to delete it either because I don't
think it is something I need? Since my computer runs forever and ever most
of the time, emachines told me that I probably have a trojan horse but none
of my Microsoft antivirus software nor anything else I have used has picked
up any spyware or trojans so I don't know but I would like to get rid of this
number if it is not something that is needed for me to browse.

Also, how do you delete unwanted add-ons? I see that u can "disable" them,
but how do you go about deleting them altogether. I cannot figure out how to
do this???? Any help, please reply, I will appreciate it very much.

I would try Run... regedit and then do a Find for that string, including the braces.
E.g. copy it to ClipBoard first then in RegEdit do Ctrl-f, Ctrl-v
and make sure that you are searching at least for Keys
and starting the search from the top of the tree
(since you would expect to find it somewhere in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT)
Then either export the whole branch you find it in (for subsequent inspection
using Notepad) or just expand the branch and browse it manually.

Dear Robert or any Reader here,

I followed these instructions and did not find anything in the registry
which I find "very strange" to say the least. Anyone have any other
suggestions or did I do something wrong? Is it most definitely suppose to be
in my registry if it is an add-on? Please reply asap. Thanks a bunch.

Dear Robert or anyone who knows the answer here !!

I followed your instructions and could not find the number in my registry
which I found very strange to say the least. Did I do something wrong maybe?
If this number is listed as an add-on, shouldn't it be somewhere in my
registry if it is on my system? Please reply asap. I performed the
instructions 3 times and never found a thing and also I searched on my own as
well. Thanks for anything at all.

No idea. That was a guess. I was thinking that if you were looking at
a GUID that it would be the same as its CLSID. In fact all my add-ons
don't look like GUIDs but I can match them to CLSID.

If the GUID is stored as a binary value you won't be able to find it using
RegEdit. RegMon might expose it for you though.

This isn't really the right newsgroup to be discussing this in.
Your question would get better visibility in IE6 Browser
but you may just be advised to try one of the various spyware
forums for a diagnosis.
