Post subject: Windows NT Variations

Multipart Question
1. Are there different versions of Windows NT? ie Is there a Windows NT Server and A Windows NT Workstation, and a Windows NT Home Edition
or other?
2. Do all versions of Windows NT have their "Windows Directory" named
WINNT?
3. Do all versions of Windows NT have a "Documents and Settings" directory?
4. Do all versions of Windows NT have a "C:\Program Files" directory?

Reason I ask is that I am testing an application across all windows operating systems.

Windows NT has two versions Client (called "Windows NT") and Server (caled "Windows NT Server"), all the other featurs you have listed (except "Documents and Settings" are in all windows operating systems (from 95 to xp any way), "Documents and Settings" are only in Windows NT to XP, this has been removed.aultered in Vista.

Where does NT WorkStation fit in?
What about the name of the "Windows Directory" is it "WINNT" or "Windows"?

well it depends on how you look at it, theirs NT 4.0 workstation and NT 4.0 server. but sever has a couple of variants theirs NT 4.0 server and NT 4.0 terminal server. and what about NT 4.0 embedded. NT workstation is a more bussiness os, without the server portions, but will acess the net. think all versions of NT 4.0 came out around the same time around windows 95 time. so between 1994 to 1996. found this Windows NT Workstation 4.0 Developer Edition 7/29/1996. Windows NT Workstation 4.0 7/29/1999. Workstation 4.0 Developer Edition 1996-07-29T00:00:00 7/29/1996. Windows NT Server 4.0 Standard Edition 7/29/1996. Windows NT Server 4.0 Enterprise Edition 12/15/1997. oh look another server variant. Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition 9/13/1998. thoughs are general availibility dates, but most likely released to OEM's earlier.and guess their was two workstation variants but their probably pretty much the same. and its generally listed as windows NT. and is between NT 3.51 and 2000. the directory is generally listed as NT - windows NT
