I have it starting up every time no problem - it's just there in the tray.
Sorry, can't remember if I did anything unusual to achieve this situation -
unlikely, since I run 98lite sleek.

However, now I know what I really want.

99 percent of the time, the previous clipboard content I want is the one
immediately preceding the current content.

Therefore what is needed is an application that with a single keystroke,
without the user having to open a window or anything, replaces the current
clipboard content with the content that immediately preceded it.

With Yankee Clipper, four keystrokes are needed to replace the current
clipboard content with the previous and to be ready to paste it:

With Clipomatic, Ctrl-Alt-V then 2: OK, that's 2 keystrokes, but it includes
the paste function as well. (Ctrl-Alt-V to bring it up, 2 to select the
second item on the menu.) (I think it's 2: it might be 1. It's obvious when
you see it anyway.)

Clipomatic comes into its own when you are filling the same six (say) things
into a series of forms (e. g. tag info in WinAmp for mp3s): the 6th-last
item is always the same number (5 6 or 7, I forget), so it's - once you've
filled its buffers the first time - C-A-V 6 tab, C-A-V 6 tab, and so on (the
tab to move to the next field).

Hmm..must be me, to be honest it's that long ago since I installed it
I can't remember either. I know that I didn't like the cnt-alt-v, it
clashed with something or other. I prefer cnt-shi-z, not as awkward
and it's nice and easy, leaves the other hand free for picking your
paste.

Best regards

I just installed Clipomatic and it comes very close to what I'm looking for:
you can access and paste a previously copied bit of text in the minimum of
steps. But the program does not handle text formatting, which really limits
its usefulness.

I wrote to the guy who created Clipomatic and suggested he enhance its
capabilities.

Post subject: Clipboard Recorder is the best! [Login to view extended thread Info.]
Archived from groups: per prev. post (more info?)

Clipboard Recorder has significantly improved my productivity.
Using this program is really easy with its forthright shortcuts like:
Win+Arrows for its floating window and Win+V for its pop-up window.
I tried many others (at least 6 other famous ones) and have chosen this
one. It is effective and efficient. (Less then 1M download!)
They also provide a freeware version.
