1. Why will the Scandisk not complete, it just starts over and over. 2.
Scandisk will not work, so I tried to Defrag. This will not work either.
It never gets past the 0%. Matter of fact it never starts. Other than that
programs run normal. Any Ideas?

Boot into DOS using your Emergency Boot Disk (you may have to make one
first, go to ControlPanel/AddRemovePrograms|BootDisk) and run Scandisk
from there.

This behavior is usually caused by background programs that are
frequently accessing the hard drive while Scandisk or Defrag are
running. Antivirus software is one common culprit, but there are
many others.

Try ScanDefrag from
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://home.earthlink.net/~bblanton2/scandefrag/main.htm" target="_blank">http://home.earthlink.net/~bblanton2/scandefrag/main.htm</a> or
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.blueorbsoft.com/scandefrag/index.html" target="_blank">http://www.blueorbsoft.com/scandefrag/index.html</a> Be sure to read the
information in the readme files before installing it.

Good luck

you have something running in the background. as long as it is running in the background the scandisk, speedisk, diskdoctor, or defrag will be prevented from running. you will get a notice scandick has started over 10 times or something to the like.
if you have any programs scheduled to run automatically open them up and turn this automatic stuff off. that included automatic downloads of any kind.

a good place to start is with the schedular.
go to
my computer
scheduled tasks
open each icon and uncheck all the
enabled (specific task runs at a scheduled time)
then go to the very top of the screen
advanced
stop using task schedular

if you are still having trouble install "enditall"
then you can close and i did day close all programs
just before you get ready to run scandisk defrag or speed disk of disk doctor. norton system works speed disk and norton disk doctor are far superior to scandisk and defrag.

enitall is a free program just do an online search for it.
