Post subject: Replistor and SQL query against replicated target files
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>win2000>file_system (more info?)

Hi - We are specing the use of Replistor to replicate files from the
source to two other target servers. We want to be able to run MS SQL
queries against on of the target copies however the Replistor
documentation states that you should not allow applications to open
target replicated files.

Need to know what that means exactly. The files are actually
Pervasive(btrieve) database files that I have been able to create a
linked server connection to. I am able to do pass through queries to
the database just fine and when you monitor the db files through the
pervasive monitoring tools it shows the file as being in a read only
state while a SQL query runs. I know it looks straighforward but I am
hoping that it is not a hard and fast rule. Or perhaps whne I replicate
to the target I send a copy to two locations on the target and report
against one of them only...

Thanks for any insight,

Warren
