Post subject: Remote monitor
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>win98>display>multi_monitor (more info?)

I'm using a video projector in out church. It projects onto a screen behind
the preacher. I'm using a long video extension cable from a Dell notebook
to connect to the projector. We now want to put a monitor for the preacher
to see. The floor is carpet covered concrete and there is power to the
podium, but the conduit is full. I am looking at the Avocent Longview
LV3500W-AM to go wireless for the display. Since this will be the second
remote monitor off this system I will have to also use a video splitter.

My question concerns whether this will work. On the projector line I am at
the maximum that I think the computer will drive. If I put in a splitter
Belkin Omniview F1DV104 will that have an effect on whether the display
will continue to function. Second will the Avocent Longview give the speed
and performance required for the display at the podium. Most of the use so
far has been for PowerPoint presentations.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. It will cost around $800 for the Avocent
and Belkin equipment and I hate to spend that much church money unless I am
sure it will work. We do use and RF mouse to control the PowerPoint at this
time and that seems to work fine in the building.
