Hello all,
User on laptop works with My Documents folder synchronized using
Offline Files. The Domain Controller that previously worked as the
file server and My Documents repository has crashed, and the user can
no longer login to the laptop. I can login as administrator to the
local machine, but I want to save the user's offline files (which are
now stored in the WINDOWS\CSC folder with different names). Any ideas
on how I can migrate those files, with their correct names, to another
place (like a shared drive or whatever)? I just want to get the files
with the right names--any help is greatly appreciated. >> Stay informed about: Offline files, crashed domain controller, how to recover o.. |

You'll need version 1.1 of the CSCCMD resource kit utility. It has an
/EXTRACT option that should do what you need.
Let me know your email address and I'll send it to you.

Please let me know what support line you called and the name of the people
you spoke to.
I want to find out why they are unable to find this file in their system.

Hi all,
I now need to get hold of the CSCCMD 1.1 tool. A user's offline cache
got deleted when we moved her to a new server. I managed to undelete a
bunch of stuff using an undelete utility but I need to get the files
from the recovered WINNT\CSC folder into some sort of usable state.
If I can copy the recovered CSC folder contents over the top of the
currently (almost) empty one, can I please get a copy of the CSCCMD 1.1
tool as well?
I've just tried calling Microsoft UK three times and keep getting cut
off while getting put through to the tech people. Can anyone help me
with this tool?

Anyone have an update to this?
My issue is a little more odd, my computer just SUDDENLY started
filling up and then ran out of HDD space. Ended up being the CSC
folder, filled 50 gigs. Every time I cleared out a little space to try
and work on the issue, if I was connected to the network it would fill
up the new space too.
I have since 'reinitialized' the offline files, and then just turned it
off alltogether. Problem is, my CSC folder is still 50GB full, and
Microsoft says you shouldn't manually delete anything in the CSC
folder.
I want to see if I can see what is in there, or find a way to truly
clear out that folder without messing anything else up.
Thanks,
