Post subject: Another Network Printing Problem
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>win98>networking (more info?)

We have a 2 computer network problem:
Windows98SE on one machine and WindowsXP on the other.
Networked via standard ethernet cables and a Linksys Switch.
Upstream from the switch is a DLink router provided by Verizon.
File and printer sharing is turned on.
We used to have a printer connected to the Win98 machine on the
parallel port and we were able to print from both machines without any
problem. The printer died and was replaced with an HP C4100 connected
to the USB port on the Win98 machine. The Win98 machine prints fine,
and the printer is visable to the WinXP machine under Network
Neighborhood, but the WinXP machine can not open/connect to the
printer. Any and all ideas, hints, suggestions, and SOLUTIONS would be
appreciated.

Oh by the way, since service was upgraded and Verizon replaced a DSL
modem with fiber optic broadband and the DLink router, the Win98
machine can't see anything, including itself, in Network Neighborhood.
But it does show up in Network Neighborhood on the WinXP machine.
