Post subject: Mpeg Codec Problem
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>win2000>general (more info?)

I'm having trouble playing MPEGs, and some strange behavior any time I
try to capture an mpeg. I have Win 2000 SP2, with the original Media
Player, and also MP 9 (recently removed in attempting to solve this). I
also have HP Image Zone, Nero 7, and the software that came with the
video capture card (KWorld PVR 883) installed. Any time I change the
input source on the video capture card, the whole system hangs until I
do ctrl-alt-del and thes escape out from the dialog box that comes up
after a few seconds. More directly, any time I try to play an MPEG with
any of the above programs the system hangs and needs the same
ctrl-alt-del then escape sequence. It seems to me that there's a
problem with one or more of the video codecs. I've even tried deleting
all the codecs, thinking it would ask to reinstall them, but they all
came back on their own. Can anyone here give me some hints or even ask
the right questions to help narrow this down?
