Post subject: LAN 98-xp problems
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>win98>networking (more info?)

We have 2 xphome computers and 1/98. All 3 connect direct to a Highspeed
internet
(phone not cable) router. I ran the network wizard and the 2 xps recognized
each other but neither recognize the 98 despite running the xp disk in the 98
as per instructions. The 98 computer does not recognize any network computer.
I do not have tweakUI installed and yet cannot find network neighbourhood on
98.
Typing the name of the other computers in the run box does not find them
either.
On the 98 computer I deleted and added 'client for microsoft networks'. I
have TCP/IP and file and printer sharing for microsoft networks. I have
selected both 'client for microsoft networks' and' windows logon' options to
no avail. I have selected 'file and print sharing'.
when looking for the 98 computer on the xp I receive error 'no TCP/IP'.
I selected the option when running wizard 'each computer connects directly
to the internet'
I ran 'add printer' on the one xp and it found the printer connected to the
98 computer but when I select print to the printer on the 98 computer I
receive the 'no TCP/IP' error message.

solution?
