Post subject: Install problem on RAID 1 Controller
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>win2000>advanced_server (more info?)

I purchased a new Intel P4 Dual Core with Gigabyte P965 motherboard with
the on-board controller. Two identical 250 GB SATA drivers.

I prepare it for RAID 1 (mirror).

I'm having trouble installing Windows 2000 Advanced Server, where it gets
to the point "Setting up windows..." a blue screen appear saying
"Inaccessible Boot Device."

If I removed the RAID setup, then Windows can continue but now it sees 2
130 BG Drives.

I followed the books, including hitting F6 to install the Gigabyte RAID
drivers for 2000/XP/2003 from diskette.

What can I do?

It is possible to continue the W2K installation on the 1 130 GB and then
latter on set up RAID 1 via BIOS?

Will RAID 1 work with mirroring drive 1 with 2 partitions, 130 + 120?

I don't care if I have to create two partitions for drive 1. But I need
RAID 1 for this machine.

Thanks for any tips

I'd check the manufacturer's web site for updated firmware. Yes, it should
work. Once the hardware raid is configured then the raid config is
completely invisible to the OS. It's possible you're too late on the F6?
