Which version of Windows are you running?

Which version of Windows Media Player did you install?

I can't find the servicepackfiles. Now I'm thinking maybe I only have
Windows XP professional and not service pack 2. Sorry I'm so dumb about this.

Right click your My Computer icon and choose...Properties.

On the General tab you can see the Windows version and
service packs

Mine says:

System:
Microsoft Windows XP
Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 2

If you do not have SP2, you can download
it from the following site:

Download Windows XP SP2
http://tinyurl.com/6ubys

Generally, users install from the net but this
site allows you to download the complete
file to your hard drive before installing.

It's good for a network administrator because
you can burn it on a CD and install it on as
many computers as you need to.

And it's good for a single machine because
if you ever need to install it again...you'll have
it available without waiting for a download.

I guess you are looking for wmploc.dll?

Do a search and you might find it.

Start / Search / All files and folders /
More advanced options / Check the boxes;
System, Hidden, Subfolders...

Enter wmploc.dll in the all or part
of the file name field.

Search.

Good luck, I hope the fix works for you.
If it does not...you may need to seek the
services of a tech.

Sometimes it's hard to tell what the cause of a
problem is but I doubt that it's PowerDVD.

There's an older version of WMP that you may
have on your system...go to...Start / Run and type:
"mplayer2" then press enter.

If it launches, maybe you can use it until you solve
the issue with the newer version.

Also try going to...Start / Run...and type:
"wmplayer" and press enter. This is
a command that should launch the newer
WMP if it's on your system.

As far as windows media player, it seems I don't have it at all. I don't
know what else to do.
