How to view iPod--not appearing in My Computer

So I'm trying to use my iPod to transfer songs from my old computer (running windows xp) to my new computer, which is running vista.

In order to do so, though, I need to get into the iPod itself, and an icon or something to use isn't appearing in My Computer. Was there a change in where to find the iPod in Vista that I'm not aware of?

I've already tried external hard drives, and reverse syncing with the iPod and iTunes, and nothing's working to get my songs over !
