Having to type password in twice

Hi,

I just received my new Dell XPS with Windows XP. I set up a password
but now I notice that when I log onto Windows, the first time I type
the password, it says it's incorrect, then I type it again, and I can
log on. Is this a known bug ? If I delete, change my password, it
still always make me type it in a second time. Any ideas on how to fix
?
