Post subject: slow XP startup
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>perform_maintain (more info?)

Hello! I seem to have an assortment of problems lately. Windows XP takes a
looong time to boot up. Then once I select the user to login, it takes a
really loooong time for all the applications/desktop to load before you are
able to function. Occassionally there is a lovely blue screen that will
appear. I don't do anything real fancy with the laptop, so I dunno what has
brought this on.

I've been reading through some threads, hoping to find some help. I saw a
thread 'system shuts down?' within the last couple of days and the requester
was asked to post some Event Viewer Logs, so I thought I'd also do to same
here too. Perhaps there is some advice out there for me...

Any help is much appreciated......... Thanks!!!

Michele Smile

It appears that your outlook is giving you an error.

http://www.file.net/process/msimn.exe.html

Use a program called msconfig and go to startup. Check what programs is
being started up on your computer and remove the ones you do not need. Be
carefull with the as it can prevent other programs from starting. To run in
go to start, run and type msconfig then press enter.

You might have done a Microsoft Update recently and the problem has started,
or you have a hard drive that has become corrupted.

You might even have messages in your outlook exceeding 2 Giga bytes. This
will also cause your outlook to be unstable.

Hope you get it sorted, The alternative is a re-install of everything.

Goog luck.
