Hi,

For like 2 weeks already my pc has been extremely slow, and when I go to the
task manager, svchost is the process that is taking more of my pc
performance. I keep everything up-to-date always and I have no idea why
svchost is now taking over the machine like that. Would there be a way to
solve this or at least know what svchost is doing?

THanks a lot for the great help! Smile

Use HiJackThis to track down or check for possible infections. Read
this link 1st, it has step by step.
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=50662
Important: Create a specific folder on your hard drive called
HijackThis to keep its backups.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double
click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it
HijackThis. Download and unzip HijackThis.exe into this folder.
http://www.merijn.org/downloads.html Or, http://tomcoyote.com/hjt/
If possible run HJT in Normal mode ( not Safe ) with all your normal
startup's working.

How is Highjack better than Ad Aware, AVG, Spybot S&D, internal modem router
(DSL), and XP Pro firewalls?
I've not downloaded HiJackThis because it appeared too involved for me, and
I run utilities, and aforementioned at least every 4 days, (AVG is
automatically updated, and runs daily), and I run Trendmicro every 2 wks,
just to be sure...

The reason I'm responding is I've notice I'm running more slowly, but
nothing is showing up, and I have 66% available on C Drive--have not
fragemented C Drive.

Thank you.

You have answered your own question Pappion, go slows are caused
mainly by virii/ trojans/ spyfiles, which possibly means you do not
have enough protection, 4000 new ones coming out every month. We have
to eliminate the infection part of fixing your comp, before we look
elseware.

nass has given you online sites to use, have you? Use all of them.
Or,
Jaymon also has provided help.
Or,
HiJackThis is a MAJOR tool in tracking down infections, every site
involved in removing infections uses it, you only have to have to READ
my links, starting with Step by Step.

You are quite welcome to email me if you want, refer this issue in
your header.
