Hello,
I connected an older HP laser printer to an Allnet Netprint V
printerserver, by using network port on locally installed printer
driver.
Whenever I print more than two pages, Windows apparently waits for some
ACK from the printer after sending the second page (while the two first
pages are printed without problems), and then after some timeout tells
that there was an error printing.
I am confident, that, if Windows just would send everything out, it
would print nicely as well, but Windows doesn't.
I tried to deactivate spooling as well as deactivating the
bidirectional checkbox on the port tab of the printer settings but both
things did not change the behaviour.
Thanks. >> Stay informed about: Printserver Printer - does not print more than 2 pages |

Try the LPR Port monitor
Add/Remove Programs
Windows Components
Network File and Print (or close)
Print Service for Unix
I assume the Netprint V supports the LPD service.

Hello,
I know it's some time ago, but in the meantime I tried everything, also
printing via the TCP/IP port and all possible settings regarding
spooler, transfer settings and so on.
Printing through the Printserver (Allnet V) onto HP Laserjet connected
to it works well until a specific amount of data was sent to the
printer (normally 2 pages). Then Windows displays the error message
that sending to the printer was not possible any more. I still think
Windows is waiting for some feedback of the printer before sending the
rest wich does not come until timeout.
It is very annoying to need to print large documents in sections of two
pages.
Any other ideas? >> Stay informed about: Printserver Printer - does not print more than 2 pages |

I could only find the print server on a German website. If this is a
Netgear device rebranded, you must disable Bidirectional on the Ports tab of
the printer properties.

Oh good that I looked back and got an answer!
Unfortunately, the checkbox "enable Bidirectional" is not checked, and
not even enabled (greyed out).

Set the Print Processor to winprint and see if that setting allows multiple
pages. This setting is on the advanced tab of the printer properties.
Write down the HP print processor if there is more than one.

what type of printer is this?
There may be a configuration on the print server for printer type. If you
have an inkjet device you should slow down the throughput speed to the
device. If you have a fast laserjet you would want to change to high speed.

HP LaserJet 4V.

The printserver has small dip-switches to make some configurations
thate are not described in the manual. The configurations that can be
made via the webserver do not indicate a throughput speed.
