Post subject: run a start up program with a different user account
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>security_admin (more info?)

i have a WinXP Pro computer with two accounts, one is an administrator
account, another one is a limited account.

i want to set up a program so that it starts automatically when the limited
account logs in. however the program requires privilege of an administrator
account. how do i set up this program so that it starts upon log-on, and most
importantly, store the administrator password for the program so that Windows
doesn't ask the limited user for an administrator password?

thanks!

Why does it *require* administrative privileges?
Can you change some file/folder/registry permissions and run it as a regular
user?

Nor would it - it would be the security options of the folders the program
is installed in and registry entries (security permissions) that it uses.

You could try using a logon script using cpau from Joeware.net that will
encode the credentials of the user used for elevated proviliges.
