I am having trouble with my pc so I'm trying to restore to a previous time.

I have tried several restore points, and at first it looks like it's
restoring it, but after reboot it says that the it was unable to restore it
to the previous time. I've tried this with several restore points (mostly
system restore points as opposed to restore points with software
installation).

I noticed this problem many months ago when I ran into the same problem. I
just let it ride at the time. But now I"d like to do it and it isn't
working. Any ideas?

Thanks
Dave

I tried manually setting a RP and then immediately tried to restore from it,
and it worked fine. (this was without doing the steps mentioned above that
would have destroyed my previous RP's.) So that worked, but none of the
other ones worked. Oy vey...go figure. Just sad that the 'safety net' of
System
Restore doesn't work! What we gonna do with a safety net that doesn't
work....

It doesn't happen often, but unfortunately System Restore points sometimes
get corrupted. When that happens, all you can do is turn it off and then
back on again. That causes the loss of existing restore points, but they are
no good anyway.

There's very good info about System Restore here:

okay I guess I will try that. boo hoo There goes all my restore points.
lol

Restore Points must get corrupted A LOT, because I was just talking to my
friend the other day and he said he could NEVER restore his Restore Points
either! I wish there was a better way to restore, or a way to keep them
from getting corrupted, because it sounds like a lot of people have this
problem.

cheers
dave

I don't know what causes the corruption, but I'm aware that it sometimes
happens. A lot? I can only tell you my own personal experience; I've *never*
experienced corrupted restore points on any of my computers.

Hi,

Are there any Norton applications installed?

Here are some troubleshooting steps to take when System Restore fails to
restore:
