contains a conrol panel icon which I wish to remove. Could anyone offer any

Go to Control Panel and double click Folders Options.
In Folder Options, click on the View tab.
In the Advanced Settings box, scroll down to "Show Control
Panel in My Computer".
Remove the check mark from the box next to that line.
Click OK.

Good luck
