Post subject: remote assistance in workgroup setting
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>security_admin (more info?)
hey all,
is it possible to provide remote assistance in a workgroup setting (instead
of being inside a domain)? For instance, at home I don't have a domain.

I configured group policy, the firewall, computer properties but still
doesn't work. Am I missing something?

Yep - it's possible. I don't work with workgroups, but it should be very
easy -

The ability to offer remote assistance does not exist in a workgroup. Anyone
needing assistance will have to initiate the request.

If you are having problems responding to request, you might want to post your
question to this newsgroup.

A follow up to my earlier response, I was wrong, it seems it is possible to
offer remote assistance in a workgroup.
