Did you install a new viewer or associate JPG images with something else?

My Computer or Windows Explorer...
Tools --> Folder Options --> File Types tab.. Find the JPG/JPEG/JPE
registered file types, click onthe advanced tab and change the icon as you
see fit.

If you want it normal, Right click file> Open With > Choose Program
Select Windows Picture and fax viewer and tick the box "Always use the
selected program" > Click OK
If the icon still not change or you don't want "Windows Pic and Fax V" as
the default then Go to
Control Panel > Folder Options > File types tab > Select jpg from the list >
Click advanced > Click Change icon > Click Browse > Double click the
WINDOWS\system32\shimgvw.dll file > There will be the icon for jpg that you
want

Holy . Scared the stuff out of me and I thought I'd seen the worst.

If you just want to change the icon that represents the program that opens
your .jpg files, right-click on it's shortcut>properties>change icon, then
go for it. There are many progs out there that let you create your own
icons and/or change the ones you have already. Even make them from picture
files you have.

If you want to change the the program that opens your .jpgs. In Explorer,
go Tools>folder options> File Types scroll down to find the prog that wants
to open your .jpgs, delete it, close. Then right click on a .jpg in
explorer, select >OPEN WITH, Then select the program you want to ALWAYS open
that type of file(check the "always use this prog to open this type of
file") if you're sure that's the bomb.

Many installs eg: Quick Time, etc will take over control of file formats
that you are used to be opened by other programs.

Watch carefully what goes on when you install new software. Don't just run
a new .exe, .com, .bat, .??? because some web-site says it's OK. Keep your
anti-virus up-to-date. Scan often for Ad/Malware, Trojans

Another reason to run away from windoze..
