Running XP Pro, on a Dell Latitude D600. When this unit tries to do
several operations of sits in idle for any length of time like playing
media player it locks up with the message"insufficient system resources
exit". What is the problem and how can I fix it? Is it short on memory?
I have checked and there is 63% left.

Not a expert by no means but do want my equipment to function properly.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Hi JY:

When any computer attempts to do "several operations" at the same time
you would expect it to run more slowly than it typically runs. That's
especially true when one of the 'operations' is playing media, which can
absorb a great deal of memory. (Your computer has 63% free disk space,
not 63% free memory.)

You can either a) adopt a more realistic approach to running your
computer or b) add more memory. However, without a more realistic
approach, buying memory is only buying you time.

How much RAM memory?

Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to select Task Manager and click the Performance
Tab. Under Commit Charge what is the Total, the Limit and the Peak?

Hope this helps.

multiple local disk drive letters that do not exist - I have a C drive that my OS runs off and a internal D drive. they are separate harddrives. I run three external harddrives through the USB.
