What's the diff(s) between the two? Not clear from the website info (not to
me, at least). Is Media Center an extension to the XP Home/Pro/Both code base
or is it a different code base and product? Is Media Center a proper superset
of either XP Home or Pro? Thanks in advance!

Windows Media Center is XP Pro with a jazzed up interface.

Good information, thanks! Thought there was something in common so it sounds
like w/ XP Pro you have all you need if you don't need a pre-built interface
to run your media devices.

Also, Media Center does not allow to connect this version to a Windows Server
domain.

Thx.
So Media sounds more like XP Home than it sounds like XP Pro (Home doesn't
allow logging into a Windows Server domain either). Will definitely stick w/
XP Pro.

It's a superset of XP Professional. It has everything in XP Professional
plus the extra media features, but is missing one XP Professional feature:
the ability to join a domain.

No, it's based on XP Pro - not Home - with the media enhancements. The only
difference is you can't join a domain. It's true that XP Home can't join a
domain either but there are many other differences between Home and Pro
besides this.
