I run XP SP2 and IE7. Having looked at all the forums I understand that the
Exceptions tab in Windows Firewall should have 4 pre-set entries and that
only the Remote Assistance one should be ticked/checked. However, my PC has
a fifth entry which is ticked by default -" Network Diagnostics for Windows
XP ".
Can anyone advise please where that one came from and whether it should be
unchecked or even deleted as an entry altogether.
Many Thanks

Network Diagnostics for Windows XP is available to help identify and fix
network connection problems
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914440

One has to download and install it, Simon. It does not come with XP.
It resides in the WINDOWS\Network Diagnostic subfolder.
As to how it came to be on your system ... only you can determine that.
