I had problems choosing a discussion group from the drop-down menu so am only
guessing here! Please redirect me to the right place if I'm in error.
Windows Defender was working fine until today, and I now get the following
error message:
"Application failed to initialize: 0x800106ba. A problem caused Windows
Defender Service to stop. To start the service, restart your computer or
search Help and Support on how to start a service manually."
I searched Help and Support but couldn't find a thing to help me. We run
two computers from our router, and both computers get the same message.
Would appreciate any help. Am not very technically-minded here, so keep it
simple! Thanks! >> Stay informed about: Windows Defender - problem - sorry if this is the wrong gr.. |

I get the same error msg. rferrerd to here lately, exacerbating my orignal
prob. which was inability to upgrade from my regularly-upgraded Beta Defender
to the new version.
When I try to do that I get into a catch-22 loop of the validation neither
being recognized (it used to be in the past) nor allowing me to do it any
other way.
The diagnostic run offered shows I can't load that active x control. I use
XP, IE7, Norton AV, and have long been on automatic updates. I had Beta
Defender until this problem, but have uninstalled/reinstalled it as an
attempt to solve my troubles and when I re-install I get the original
poster's error message or the loop descrobed above trying to download the new
version.
