Here is the problem:

When I click start>turn off computer it freezes for up to 3 minutes.
After this incredibly long period of time I finally get the option to
actually shut down/reboot, etc. Now, once I do that it once again
freezes up for another 3 minutes.

I have called Microsoft support, I have gotten so far to level 2 w/o
any resolution.

1st guy: msconfig - make sure its set to normal, fast user swithing on
Result: temporary fix as in it shut down correctly once.

2nd guy: disable all start up options (msconfig) and then delete them
from registry
Result: temporary fix as in it shut down correctly half a dozen times
and messed up approx 4 of my programs which I had to fix.

3rd guy (teir 2): finds error in evenTviewer showing there has been
problems with an old webcam I had installed (logitech), so he
uninstalls it.
Result: shut down correctly - lasted 3 hours, problem returns.

I run BitDefender 2009, I have used this program for years w/no
problems this is not a new application. In fact, there are no new
applications installed since the problem began. Maybe a game here or
there but nothing major. Computer worked fine and then about 2 weeks
ago, wham, problem.

I am getting sick of Microsoft tech support "temporary" solutions.
What are they missng?!?!

Loosing sleep over this (it takes that long to shut down) HELP!

PS
please ignore any grammatical errors its 2:30 a.m. and I'm half asleep
and I didn't feel like spell checking.

Push the power button...
it should give you a faster and more orderly shut down.

Note: do not turn the power switch off...
that will cause an improper shut down
