VPN Setup with Router

We currently have a Windows 2003 Server Std (not the Domain controller)

on the LAN running Terminal Server. We have a remote office that has XP

computers. Currently, the remote users connect to the TS by running the

Remote Desktop Connection from XP. A Static IP (the Main location's ISP

Provided) is typed in the text box, they click 'Connect', and are
presented with the login on the Windows 2003 TS Server.

The Main location is using DSL and the remote location is using
cable.The potential number of connections would be less than 10 users.


For added security, we want to implement a VPN for TS to run through
using a Linksys VPN-capable router such as the RV042 or similar.


How would we set this up, specifically the following:


1. The DSL/VPN router would physically be located at the main location
and plugged into what? The DSL modem? The Main switch? or both?


2. The router would then be setup with the ISP-provided Static IP, LAN
IP, run DHCP with specified range of IP addresses, etc
What else do we configure? Port forwarding, etc? Where are the ports
forwarded to? The XP clients will continue to use RDC.


3. How, specifically, will the clients connect? Will they launch RDC
1st, what is the address they connect to? Or do we setup a VPN
connection in Network connections and they initiate that first then
start RDC to IP of TS on LAN? If this is true, how is the RDC
configured--just with IP address of the TS, right?


4. The remote location does not have a VPN router, just a standard
cable router. Is this a problem?
