I recently upgraded my system to new Mobo and CPU and HDD. Now windows will
not boot. I get to the Windows LOGO screen and the the system reboots. Will
a REPAIR install correct the problem?

If you installed a DIFFERENT motherboard than you had previously (assuming
you did, unless all those were defective) you *should* perform a repair
installation.

Shenan,
Thanks for the quick reply and the helpful info and links. I'll try that.

Probably.

When you change the motherboard, unless the new one is identical to
the old, you have to at least do a repair installation of Windows. See
"How to Perform a Windows XP Repair Install"
http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

That's usually sufficient, but you should be aware that occasionally a
repair installation isn't good enough, and you will need to reinstall
Windows cleanly.

Thanks Ken,

I did the repair-installation, now when Windows starts, it tells me I need
to reactivate. Then when I click OK, it tels me It is already activated. Is
there any hope?

This software was installed on the Gateway system when I purchased it. They
have sold support to MPC, and they are ABSOLUTELY NO HELP!

Thanks again,

Thanks again Shenan,

I tried that before I posted last. It did nothing. Someone told me that
Gateway may have locked their installation to the old drive or motherboard.
Could that be the problem now? If so, what can I do?
