Post subject: Sound, Speaker and C-Media AC97 Probs Get Alert
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>device_driver>dev (more info?)

A few months ago my speakers fell off the desk and broke. I finally
replaced them but I cant get any sound. I've tried the speakers out on
my laptop and they work fine. But when Install them on my pc - it says
the device cannot start and I get a code 10. I've tried uninstalling
the drivers and downloading them again (many times) but it doesnt work.
I've noticed a few things when snooping around:

1. When I click on the CMI Audio Config Prog - nothing happens
2. When I tried testing the sound using speech - it says there are no
audio output devices currently installed.
3. When I checked the system devices for system speakers - there are no
drivers installed

I have no idea what is wrong, what to look for or how to fix it.
Please help!!!

Kat

PS: I really am a pc techincal idiot - so please treat me as such if
you reply otherwise I wont know what your talking about Surprised)
