I need help!!!

I recently reinstalled Windows XP Media Center Edition and now it takes up
to 2 minutes to shut down. Please don't give me any of the registry fixes
like to make Windows kill unresponsive tasks faster or kill processes faster,
I have already done that.

FYI, for an anti-virus I have Avira Antivirus and for a firewall I have
ZoneAlarm Free. Could they be causing the problems? Could it be my hard
drive going out? I don't know. Please, any suggestions?

Slow Windows XP startup and shutdown - I have count the time to boot and shutdown. A boot takes 4 min., a shutdown takes 7:20. I problem is on a Thinkpad T61. There are many software tools to enable keyboard, protext harddisk... at the startup. At shutdown it takes 6 min. to sync offline..
