Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>hardware (more info?)

I had to reinstall Windows XP Home on a Dell Dimension 2400 because it
was running incredibly slowly.
Ended up with Yellow ?!s beside several devices when I checked Device
Manager. Fixed everything (by pointing 'Update Driver' to what
appeared to bethe correct folder under C:\Drivers)
However, nothing works for this item (SM Bus Controller). There is a
SonyUSB folder in C:\Drivers but when I select that one, it doesn't
work.
Any suggestions?
Thank you

Download the motherboard utilities driver(s) from the Dell website.

How did you do this re-install the XP? With a Dell Recovery
"system" (CD or partition) or a true XP install CD?

Head over to Dell's support web site and locate / download the drivers
for your model.

An alternative source for the SMBus driver for the Dell Dimension 2400 is
Intel's Chipset software.

It is available here
