Post subject: Resolving XP SP2 error, '* not valid Win32 application' Get Alert
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>configuration_manage (more info?)

I am running Windows XP SP2. I also have several 16-bit programs installed
on my computer which I have been using without difficulty until about 2
months ago. All of a sudden I am now getting an error message when I try to
run any of those 16-bit programs, ’(program exe) is not a valid Win32
application’.

I have automatic update set for Microsoft products installed on my computer
and I suspect development of this problem occurred with one of the automatic
updates.

Anyone have a solution that would allow me to run these old 16-bit programs
that ran fine until a couple of months ago?
