Has anyone reported any problems with recent updates preventing cordless
optical mice working? My Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 has stopped working and
the only changes I have made to the system over the last few weeks have been
the involuntary windows updates. Curiously my offspring's system away seems
to be having the same problems with a slightly more basic mouse.. His is a
few rooms so I don't imagine it is interference with any other wireless
system in the area. Or if it is, resetting the connections should cure it?

Tried all the usual suspects, Connecting with the pushers, device manager,
SFC, reinstalling drivers etc.

The only symptom was that initially unplugging it made the system give two
quick muted beeps instead of one strong one. Similarly on plugging it in a
gain, I got another muted lower-than-normal frequency beep. Actually now
this has stopped and the beeps are as strong as they should be on plugging
it in and taking it out again.

It doesn't appear to be the batteries which are strong enough.

I have tried both

At first the mouse worked with limited functionality using the native
drivers but later I found I could get more buttons to work with the specific
drivers.

Now none work.

Sound like you have more of a problem with the USB ports (mice are
connected to USB ports??) I have been using the Microsoft
Intellipoint drivers for some time now without "major" problems as the
ones you state.

Curious, something is definitely "up". I discovered the existence of
something called Intellipoint drivers dated February 2007 and on
installation, the mouse suddenly sprang back to life again.
