Post subject: Problem playing video files
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>video (more info?)

I already wrote this question to: microsoft.public.windowsmedia and then
found this group which probably is the right place for my question.
Sorry for duplicating.

Hi Everybody
For some time I was having problems with some video files. Most of the files
were running fine but on very few files(only 2-3) the grafic was not good. On
the whole
left side of the picture there was some lines and the picture on this left
part was operlapping. It was like ghosts. These same files on other systems
worked well.

And now I cannot play any video files and do not know if the previous
problem has something to do with it. When I try to open video files the
system says that it encountered a problem and need to close. In the report
file it says:

AppName: wmplayer.exe AppVer: 11.0.5721.5145 ModName: msvcr71.dll
ModVer: 7.10.3052.4 Offset: 00010582

BTW, I can play MP3, WMA,... without a problem.

Same problem if I try to play the file with "Media Player Classic".

When I tried VLC, it started to play the file nicely but after 15 minutes or
so the video stopped playing continously. Means it started to play as if it
was a slide show. It showed the picture, stopped for a second, again started,
stopped for a second ....

My system:
Win XP SP2; Media Player 11; System updated.
Have all the codecs. Using K-Lite. Files which had bad quality checked with
the tools provided with K-Lite bundle and no problem is there.

Thanks for any answer in advance
Raja

Editing original post:
I Tried to play with MPlayer and then again with VLC and they both plays the
file just fine. Except those two or three files where left side has a bad
quality
