Post subject: Problem with cached credentials
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>security_admin, others (more info?)

Hello All,

I am having an interesting problem with cached credentials on a laptop, and
was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on the issue.

We have created two Exchange-enabled AD user objects for the firm's managing
partner and his wife. Both want to check their email using Outlook RPC/HTTP
while at their weekend home. A laptop has been set up as a member of the AD
domain. Each user has logged into the laptop and had their Outlook profile
configured/tested while the computer was connected to the office network.
Both users are using local, not roaming, profiles. Each user is supposed to
be able to log into the laptop with their cached domain username and
password, check their mail as indicated, then log out of Windows.

Here's what happens: User 1 logs in, checks his mail, logs out. User 2
logs in, checks her mail, logs out. User 1 tries to log in again, but gets
a "domain controller cannot be found" error. It's like the cached
credentials for User 1 went completely out the window after User 2 logged
in. Is this normal ? Please reply to group and email.

Thanks,
Cody Anderson
