Hi,
I have tried to install the security update KB931784 several times but it
keeps coming back for download. I have installed other updates since then but
I don't seem to be able to install this one.
Can someone help me please

Give this a shot, Pascal. Download the update from here and SAVE it, do
NOT run it from it's 'present location'
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=eeaee4a7-4858...6b-9c6d

When the download is finished, close all open programs and browsers
Restart the system
After it loads, *before* you do *anything* else, run
WindowsXP-KB931784-x86-ENU.exe by clicking Start > Run > click the
Browse button
Navigate to where WindowsXP-KB931784-x86-ENU.exe is located and click on
it once
Click the Open button
In the Run window in the Open: line, click once on
"C:\<locationoffile>\WindowsXP-KB931784-x86-ENU.exe"
This will highlight it in blue
Place the cursor AFTER the last quotation mark " and click once
Push the Space Bar on the keyboard and enter

/o

The line will now appear as:

"C:\<locationoffile>\WindowsXP-KB931784-x86-ENU.exe" /o

If the file was saved to the Desktop, then it will look something like
this -

"C:\Documents and Settings\<yourUsername>\My
Documents\WindowsXP-KB931784-x86-ENU.exe" /o

Click OK or press Enter
[NOTE the space after the LAST quotation mark "]

Did that get it installed ?
If not, open the KB931784.log located in the WINDOWS directory [folder]
with Notepad
Scroll all the way down to the end of it
Copy and paste the last TWO sections of the KB931784.log into your
reply, please. [ NOTE: They will be demarked by lines that appear as

You're welcome, Pascal. Save it to the Desktop so it's easy to find <w>
