I keep getting this, "Parport: Device has a problem", whenever I run
diagnostic on my HP notebook PC. What is this? Since this started coming up,
my PC is extremely slow now and svchost.exe is killing the processor. Please
help..thanks.

Any chance this is a mis-spelled 'Paperport'? Do you have a scanner or
all-in-one printer? Try disconnecting it entirely.

Although I couldn't glean a single theme from the posts, there are many
archived posts on the error:

http://groups.google.com/groups/search?q=Parport+hp+diagnostic&qt_s=Search

Drop the word "diagnostic" from the search and there are a few thousand
posts.

It's a shortening of the term "parallel port" and generically refers to
any peripheral (printer, scanner, etc.) that can be connected to a
computer's parallel port.

Thanks Bruce,

That is funny because this is a laptop and I don't have a printer parallel
port on it! I guess I'll have to dig deeper a little or give them a call. Of
course calling HP is useless because I know the answer already; do a system
restore!!!

Thanks though..
