Is there a way of show the link speed of a auto negotiated connection?
Windows only shows if it is 10, 100 or 1000 MBit, where is, in GUI or
command line, half/full duplex? That's important, there are many problems
that arise from the auto-negotiation.

Thanks in advance!

If you don't get an answer here you might try one of the networking
newsgroups.

I'd like to know the answer for this as well. I have never been sure when
to use Full or Half Duplex with my desktop machines or server, and have been
suspicious about using Auto as the best policy.

If you have posted this question elsewhere, where?

It's up to the NIC driver to provide that, most don't.

To provide what? Those settings are on both NICs on my server, and three
machines here, with separate NICs or onboard. They are also on this laptop
I am using now.

I just am not totally sure when half or full duplex is needed. I remember
asking in a network newsgroup a few years ago, but I got conflicting or
confusing answers.

Is there a way of show the link speed of a auto negotiated connection?

I just am not totally sure when half or full duplex is needed.
Select Auto, force Full-duplex IF auto fails.

I never asked that question, but it is easy to see if it is at 1000, 100 or
10 Mbit/s from the lights on the switch or on the NICs themselves.

Auto works fine, but that is not the issue.

Yes, and then I went on to describe which bit of his question I was
referring to - being whether Full or Half Duplex should be used, as I would
like to know, rather than relying on Auto, which *may* not choose the most
efficient.

And the reply was use auto, unless issues arise, then force Full. It's a
negotiation, so you only want to interfere if, and only if the
negotiation fails.

What a pointless reply though. I have obviously been using Auto for over a
decade, but that does not answer my question. If you do not understand the
question, then just leave it.
