i recently got a new aser aspire laptop which has windows vista basic. i
have connected to the internet etc but whe i downloaded windows live
messenger an error message pops up saying 'windows messenger has stoped
working. a problem caused thi program to stop working corectly. windows will
close the program and notify you if a solution is available' then it just
closes. i have tried to download it again but the same thing happens. does
any one know if there is an easy solution that can fix this? also when it
closes a litle pop up message appears and says data excuation prevention has
closed messenger. can this be the problem?

Greetings Josh,

This is a known problem with Acer laptops and one of the built-in pieces of software they
use.

You can find an updated version here (also you might want to look to see if there are other
patches for your PC on the Acer site):
