When I go to media center, it comes up with the set up, then displays this
error message:
"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close
the program and notify yu if a solution is available."
That's it no explaination. Any ideas?
Thanks

What hardware do you have? Built or purchased? Under warranty?

I have the latest drivers for everything, and Vista media center was working
OK for a while, but now many other people are reporting this exact same media
center crash, which happens about 10 seconds after starting MC:

I installed the 64bit version when I received it from MS and Media Center
works fine now.
Thanks,

I wonder if you just had a bad 32-bit install?

Thanks a million for that. I've tried renaming folders, restoring the
system, updating drivers, changed the system date, searched Technet,
Google et al endlessly.........
At least Media Center now starts again, but if it will stay working is
another issue. What a flaky piece of software!

I have spent countless days trying to find a solution to this problem. After
having a year with my Vista Compaq Laptop, I found that it has Windows Media
Center but when I tried to open the program, it showed up: "Media Center" has
not stopping. I have an external TV tuner and it requires and made for
Windows Media Center. I have requested all kind of hotfixes and it still
didn't solve the problem. My last resort is to reinstall Vista (and erase
everything else) in order to get that darn Media Center to work (hopefully).
Apparently, Microsoft doesn't offer any kind of reinstallation for Media
Center for Vista which is very disappointing. So what happens when your Media
Center goes bad? It seem like there's no solution for this crisis yet...
If anyone out there have a (much) better or alternative solution, please
save my sanity before I go nuts about this whole Vista thing. >> Stay informed about: Media Center has stopped working |

click start type run in search box click run in the programs list.
in the open box type %systemdrive%\programdata\microsoft\ehome then click ok.
in pane right click mediacenterdatastore.db and then delete clck yes to
confirm .
