After installing and reinstalling WinTV-PVR I get this message every
10 seconds or so.

Media Center Receiver Service has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Any help?

I believe you shouldn't be running WinTV and MC Receiver service
simultaneously. Try this: go to My Computer | Manage | Services and
Applications | Services, and disable the receiver services (is it
ehrecvr? I have no access to MCE right now).

If I'm wrong, hope for a better idea from another poster.

Start>Run>services.msc>ok

Locate Media Center Receiver service and stop the service.

Install all the updated drivers and reboot.

Media Center Receiver Service Problem - I recently uninstalled InterVideo and am now getting an error message about every 5 seconds to this tune: "Media Center Receiver Service has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience..." Data for this erro...

Media Center Receiver Service had encountered a problem... - and blah, blah, blah - you know the rest. So, all of a sudden, after the 1st of the year, I keep getting this message and my TV Tuner no longer works. In fact, WMC says that it can't even find TV tuner hardware. I've tried many things to fix this..
