Post subject: Local Security Policy
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>security_admin (more info?)

We have an XP Pro PC that does not keep the Local Security Policy changes if
the PC restarts.
Any time the PC restarts the "Access this computer from the network" and
"Allow logon through Terminal Services" do not have any users or groups
associated with them. We have to go and manualy add the necessary groups and
users. (No DC in this network)
We have a printer attached to it and shared so the rest of the PCs can print
to it.
We also need to remotely access the PC through RDP.

We thought that the problem was NAV 2006. We uninstalled it and restarted
the PC a few times and we were happy since the settings did not change.

I ran some MS Windows updates while logged on remotely through RDP and once
the system restarted the Local Security Policies seem to have changed again.

I can no longer logon through RDP and the rest of the PCs in the office can
not access the shared files and printer.

I hope some one has the answer for a permanent fix without having to
reinstall the OS.

Thanks in advance.
