Post subject: Live messenger with camcorder/video capture card
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>messenger (more info?)

I hope that Jonathan Kay can respond to this:

Back in February a message was posted on usenet about using a camcorder/tv
tuner and video capture card as a webcam in live messenger. The reponse back
then was that the selection box under "webcam settings" was for win98 and for
XP you just used the "audio and video setup" dialog. I went through this and
I can see my video, but I am having the same problem as the other user...

1. If I open live messenger without using the TV tuner software (ATI TV
Wonder 650 with video capture capability) at the same time live messenger
will always default to the TV tuner.

2. If I select composite input on the tuner software then I see the
camcorder video in live messenger.

3. If I then close the tuner software live messenger immediately defaults to
the tv tuner again.

To make a long story short, I need a way to select the video source for
input under live messenger. The method that microsoft uses in windows movie
maker would be ideal and works great with my setup. Thanks for any help.
