Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>perform_maintain (more info?)

A few weeks ago our server went down and created a problem with Outlook. I
could only work in safe mode, we had to uninstall and reinstall MS Office and
my data. Since that time, I have not been able to search my e-mails
correctly & I saw a bar at the top of the screen that mentioned that all
items were not indexed. Went to Outlook help & it gave me direction to to
rebuild my instant search catalog thru 'Indexing Options' in the control
panel. However, the indexing options box seems to be stuck and is displaying
the following: 'Indexing is performing maintenance. Please wait.' This
has remained the same for hours. When I click on the advanced button to
'rebuild', I get a box stating that 'Index is performing maintenance. If you
choose to rebuild now, the index will be unavailable and will not be rebuilt
until indexing is restored.'
I don't know where to go or what to do from here. Any suggestions are
appreciated.
