Checkpoints to consider:
1) Right click on desktop >> arrange icons by >> uncheck "Lock Web items on desktop"
2) Right click on My Computer >> Properties >> Advanced tab >> Settings under 'Performance' >> check
"Use drop shadows for icon labels on desktop".
