| I am using XP, and my son has been changing the wallpapers using the 'Browse"
button on Display (Desktop), Now the Backgrounds are filled with hundreds of
my photos / wallpapers. How do I get rid of those ? I tried searching for
them in Windows/Web , but I only found some wallpapers but not all the
photos. I stored the original photos files in My Pictures folders. Can
someone help me. Thanks.

Eddy,
The wallpapers are usually stored in C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper
You should be able to delete those you don't want.
In any case, if you open one of these in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer,
just right click and select Set as Desktop Background and you will get a new
background, whether you can find the others or not.

Trevor,
Thanks for your info, but I really could not find the photos, All original
wallpapers tht came with XP like Autum, Bliss, Power, Friend, etc are all
inside Web/Wallpaper, but the photos are not there. I still have all the
original photos in my "My Pictures", but with hundreds of photos stored in my
Display/Desktop, it slows down the loading when I click the Display/Desktop
window. I really appreciate. Thank you.

Eddy,
I think the names of all these photos are stored in the registry. You may
have to search the registry for them by name and delete each key found.
I just did a registry search for "wallpaper" and found many entries which
related to files which at some time has been used for wallpaper. Those in
the Windows\Web\Wallpaper folder did not appear, but many hadn't been used.
This may be a way to find them. Deleting the entries should clean up the
list.
But, I am no registry expert!!!
It may be worth while waiting to see if an expert reads the thread and can
advise on the subject.

I can tell you that you carnt find the files becasue they are in MyDocuments and any sub directory of My Documents, Windows XP dose this thing where by once you set a image in my documents or any sub dir as a wallpaper, it will list all images found in my documents and any sub directory in the desktop section of the display properties. I would guess (as tandcl said) that this list is stored in the registary, so give it some searching. >> Stay informed about: Need Help on My Desktop Wallpaper |
